PROJECT TWO

THIS IS GOING TO BE MY FIRST POST FOR THE SECOND PROJECT I AM DOING. THERE WILL STILL PROBABLY BE A FEW FROM THE OTHER PROJECT AS I AM FINISHING IT AND TRYING TO WORK OUT HOW TO DISPLAY IT E T C BUT PREDOMINANTLY NOW IT WILL BE RESEARCH AND DISCUSSION ABOUT THE NEW PROJECT.

THE SECOND PROJECT IS A BOOK BASED PROJECT ABOUT A PLACE CALLED STANSTED MOUNTFITCHET CASTLE WHICH IS NEAR TO WHERE I COME FROM.

WEBSITE:
http://www.mountfitchetcastle.com/

I WENT ON A VISIT AND HAVE TAKEN SOME PHOTOGRAPHS AND LEARNT ALOT ABOUT LIFE IN MEDIEVAL TIMES. I AM REALLY INTERESTED IN HISTORY AND REALLY WANTED TO DO A PROJECT THAT HAD THAT AS ITS BASIS. HAVING DONE SO MUCH RESEARCH ON BOOKS FOR PROJECT ONE, AND THEN NOT USING IT I REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO APPLY THAT KNOWLEDGE TO THIS PROJECT BUT ADD A TWIST TO IT AND MAKE IT MUCH MORE INTERACTIVE.

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE 'BOOKS' THAT WOULD BE SOLD IN THE GIFT SHOP, WHERE THERE ARE A FEW DIFFERENT CATEGORIES I.E HOUSES / ANIMALS / PEOPLE / OCCUPATIONS AND THEN THERE WOULD BE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY THE PAGES AND MAKE YOUR OWN BOOK. SO YOU MIGHT CHOOSE TO MAKE AN ANIMAL AND HOUSES BOOK, SO THEN CONSTRUCT YOUR OWN OUT OF THOSE TWO ELEMENTS. BUT THE POINT IS THAT IT IS UP TO YOU WHAT YOU MAKE YOUR OWN BOOK ABOUT.

ALTHOUGH THIS BOOK WILL APPLY PRIMARILY TO CHILDREN, THERE IS NO REASON WHY IT COULD NOT BE APPLIED TO ADULTS. ALSO, IT CAN BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH YOUR VISIT TO THE CASTLE - SO YOU WOULD LOOK AT THE PAGES AS YOU WENT ROUND AND FILL SOME BITS IN OR YOU COULD TAKE IT HOME AND CONSTRUCT IT THERE. BUT ALSO, THIS COULD BECOME A TEMPLATE FOR OTHER PLACES - SO IT COULD BE ABOUT SCHOOL OR AIRPORTS AND SOLD SOMEWHERE LIKE THE TATE BOOKSHOP.

I WILL NEED TO RESEARCH:

-INTERACTIVE BOOKS
-BOOKS SOLD AT THE TATE BOOK SHOP
-THE KINDS OF THINGS THAT INTEREST CHILDREN (BUT DON'T WANT TO BE PATRONISING - IMPORTANT)
- HAVE ALREADY MADE ON SIGHT OBSERVATIONS AND TAKEN PICTURES - BUT MAY NEED TO DO SOME ADDITIONAL RESEARCH INTO MEDIEVAL LIFE OR CUSTOMS.
